Our Story
Maine’s Authority in Heat Pumps, Solar, Generators, and Electrical Service.
I remember,
my father would get up early every morning and go off to work, and my brother and I would get to spend every day at home with our mother. Both were incredibly hard workers who believed in the value of sacrifice and persistence.
My parents taught me to treat everyone fairly, and always do the right thing.
Throughout my youth, I saw them often go beyond their means (and to extremes) to help others. The example they set, and the core beliefs they instilled in me inspire every decision I make to this day.
My father, Michael LaPlante, started LaPlante Electric in 1974, and I’ve worked here with my dad since I was 13 years old. Growing up, it’s all I ever knew.
Eventually, I went away to college in Massachusetts. But before I left, my mother made me promise I would work a different job for a couple years, because she wanted to make sure I had the opportunity to choose my own path.
So I worked a heating and air job to make good on my promise, but in my heart I always knew I wanted to make my home in Maine, and work at LaPlante Electric. A family business that helps its neighbors live happier lives.
While I was in Massachusetts working my HVAC job, my mother passed away suddenly. I immediately came home. All that mattered to me was taking care of the family business and being there for my father and brother.
We decided our focus would be providing the kind of service nobody else in our business could, and that we would expand to serve an even larger part of our community – taking care of them the RIGHT way.
We stopped at nothing to provide 5-star service on every job. We would get installations done in one day, and we’d help people through the entire process. That’s still how we do it today. And I’m proud to say, we still have never missed an install date. Rain, sleet or snow, LaPlante shows up when we SAY we will.
But that’s not the end of the story . . .
I fell in love with my wife Andrea and today we have two amazing kids. Andrea works here too, and is really the backbone of this place.
My dad is still a daily inspiration for me and the team, and if you’re lucky, you’ll run into him so he can tell you a story or two.
It truly is a family business, making life better for our neighbors like YOU.
Just like I always wanted.
